Is Invoice Simple Worth It Once You Count the Real Cost?

Table of Contents
Invoice Simple is an invoicing app for web and mobile, not accounting software. On Invoice Simple’s pricing page, retrieved 17 September 2026, Plus costs $14.99 a month for up to 10 invoices, and its terms make subscription fees non-refundable. Our calculation from its published fees: ten $500 card payments a month on annual Plus cost $2,302.79 a year before tax โ 93% of it processing fees.
Invoice Simple plans and fees: the short answer
The one-line answer
Invoice Simple is worth paying for if you send a small, steady number of invoices and most clients pay by bank transfer or offline. It is a poor fit if card payments make up most of your income, if your invoicing comes in bursts, or if you want a refund safety net.
What to check before paying
- Where you’ll subscribe. The billing channel decides who handles refunds โ see refunds by billing channel.
- How your clients pay. Processing fees can outweigh the plan price โ see the true cost.
- Your busiest month. One busy month can break a monthly cap โ see what each plan includes.

What Invoice Simple is, and who it’s built for
This section tells you whether Invoice Simple is even the right category of software for you.
Invoicing app, not accounting software
Invoice Simple creates estimates, invoices and receipts, and collects payments on them. Its Google Play listing, retrieved 17 September 2026, describes it as an invoice, estimate and receipt maker.
If you need bank reconciliation or a general ledger, this page does not assess whether Invoice Simple’s separately marketed Bookkeeping feature covers that. Confirm it before you buy.
Who owns and runs it
The Google Play developer is Zenvoice Software Inc of Oakville, Ontario, per the listing retrieved 17 September 2026. EverCommerce’s website lists Invoice Simple among its software products, and Invoice Simple’s careers link points to EverCommerce.
How this record was built
This section explains where every figure on the page came from, and what was not checked.
Sources and capture dates
Every price, limit, fee and policy here comes from Invoice Simple’s pricing and plan pages, its help center and its Google Play listing, all retrieved 17 September 2026. Invoice2go figures come from Invoice2go’s pricing page, retrieved the same day. Where two of the vendor’s own pages disagree, we say so and name both.
What was checked, and how
We compared the pricing page against each plan page and the Google Play listing, line by line. Every yearly cost figure is our own calculation from vendor-published fees, and each one shows its working. Earlier prices have not yet been matched against archived copies of the pricing page.
What we did not test
๐งพ Not Tested: No one at The Software Scribe has used a paid Invoice Simple account for this version of the page, on the web or on Android. Nothing below describes speed, the interface, or what happens at a cap in practice. It records only what Invoice Simple published on 17 September 2026.
iOS is outside this page’s scope.
Invoice Simple pricing: what each plan costs
Invoice Simple sells three paid plans, priced as follows on its pricing page, retrieved 17 September 2026.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Invoices per month | Who hits this |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $6.99 (17 Sep 2026) | $69.99 (17 Sep 2026) | Up to 3 | Freelancers with one or two regular clients |
| Plus | $14.99 (17 Sep 2026) | $149.99 (17 Sep 2026) | Up to 10 | Service businesses with steady weekly work |
| Premium | $21.99 (17 Sep 2026) | $219.99 (17 Sep 2026) | Unlimited | Anyone regularly sending more than 10 a month |

๐๏ธ Pricing verified 17 September 2026. Software pricing changes frequently โ confirm on the vendor’s site before purchasing.
The pricing page lists prices in USD and says local-currency prices may differ. It does not publish those local prices. The Google Play listing retrieved 17 September 2026 showed no plan prices, so we cannot confirm that Play charges match the web.
Monthly vs annual prices
The pricing page advertises two months free for annual billing. Our calculation from the prices listed on 17 September 2026:
- Essentials: 12 ร $6.99 = $83.88 against $69.99, saving $13.89 a year.
- Plus: 12 ร $14.99 = $179.88 against $149.99, saving $29.89 a year.
- Premium: 12 ร $21.99 = $263.88 against $219.99, saving $43.89 a year.
Is there a free plan?
No $0 plan appeared among the three plans on 17 September 2026. The page’s “Try It Free” buttons lead to an online invoice generator and a trial. The pricing page does not state what a free account can still do once the trial ends.
How the Price Lock program works
Invoice Simple’s Price Lock conditions, retrieved 17 September 2026, work like this:
- You enrol by enabling online payments and keeping them enabled on all your invoices.
- Your rate is then locked for at least 12 months.
- Clients can still pay you by cash or check.
The FAQ does not say what happens after 12 months, or if you switch payments off.
๐ Why It Works This Way: The lock is tied to Invoice Simple Payments, which earns processing fees whenever a client pays online. Keeping your subscription price locked means leaving card payment open on every invoice โ so read the true-cost section before you enrol.
How Invoice Simple’s prices have changed
On 17 September 2026, only Invoice Simple’s current prices could be verified from a first-party source. Earlier prices have not yet been confirmed against archived captures, so the table shows gaps rather than guesses.
Price changes by plan
| Capture date | Essentials | Plus | Premium | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 17 Sep 2026 (page modified 8 Sep 2026) | See price table above | See price table above | See price table above | Verified, first-party |
| Before 8 Sep 2026 | Awaiting archived captures |
When this table fills in, the Invoice Simple price history tracker will carry every dated row.
What we could not verify
Third-party pages disagree about earlier prices. A Wise blog post whose sources were checked on 27 November 2023 lists Plus at $13.49 a month and Premium at $19.99. A February 2026 page lists Essentials at $4.99 โ lower than the $6.99 the 2023 post gives.
Neither figure is confirmed, so neither appears in the table. For what is known so far, see what changed in Invoice Simple’s 2026 pricing.
What each plan actually includes, and what it doesn’t
Invoice Simple’s plans differ on two things: a monthly invoice cap, and a short list of features that appear only on higher plans.
| Plan | Adds, per the pricing page (17 Sep 2026) | Who hits this |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials | Autofill for client and item details, online payments, real-time read receipts, mobile app | Anyone sending a few invoices a month |
| Plus | Everything in Essentials, plus photos, business owner signature, summary reports, due date reminders | Businesses that chase late payers |
| Premium | Everything in Plus, plus client signatures, premium templates, deposits, restoring previous invoices | Businesses taking deposits or sign-offs |
Monthly invoice caps and when they reset
The invoice cap for each plan is in the price table above. Estimates are unlimited on every plan, per the Essentials page retrieved 17 September 2026.
Invoice Simple’s pricing and plan pages do not say two things:
- Whether the cap resets on the calendar month or on your billing date.
- Whether drafts or duplicated invoices count toward it.
We could not verify either. Read what happens when you hit the invoice limit before a busy month.
Premium-only features: deposits, client signatures, restore
Deposits, client signatures and premium templates sit on Premium only, per the pricing page retrieved 17 September 2026. The plan pages name the restore feature “restore previous versions of invoices,” and neither page explains it further. Whether you keep invoices after cancelling is a separate question, covered in the cancellation section.
Online payments are available in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the Philippines, per the plan pages retrieved 17 September 2026. Venmo is US only.
Where Invoice Simple’s own pages disagree
The pricing page, modified 8 September 2026, lists autofill for client and item details under Essentials. The Plus plan page, modified 17 August 2026, presents autofill as part of the Plus upgrade. The Google Play listing, retrieved 17 September 2026, also places autofill in Plus.
The true cost once payment fees are added

In our calculation from Invoice Simple’s published US fees, retrieved 17 September 2026, a Plus subscriber on annual billing ($149.99) who collects ten $500 card payments a month pays $2,302.79 a year before tax. $2,152.80 of that is card processing fees.
Card vs bank transfer: the fee gap
๐ต Verified: Through Stripe, US card payments cost 3.49% + $0.49, bank transfers (ACH) cost 1% + $0.30 capped at $15, and instant payouts cost 1.5% per payout โ Invoice Simple’s Stripe fee article, dated 21 May 2026, retrieved 17 September 2026.
US PayPal payments cost 3.49% plus 49 cents, and Buy Now Pay Later payments cost 4.99%, per Invoice Simple’s PayPal fee article, retrieved 17 September 2026. Canadian card payments through Stripe cost 2.90% + C$0.30, per the Stripe article retrieved that day. Fees for the UK, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines were not listed in either article.
On one $500 payment, at the rates retrieved 17 September 2026:
- Card: $17.45 + $0.49 = $17.94.
- Bank transfer: $5.00 + $0.30 = $5.30.
Three yearly cost scenarios
Our calculations below use annual plan prices and US rates retrieved 17 September 2026. They exclude subscription tax.
| Scenario | Annual plan | Processing fees per year (US rates, 17 Sep 2026) | Total per year | Who hits this |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials, 3 ร $300 card payments a month | $69.99 (17 Sep 2026) | 36 ร $10.96 = $394.56 | $464.55 | Sole trader, card-paying clients |
| Plus, 10 ร $500 card payments a month | $149.99 (17 Sep 2026) | 120 ร $17.94 = $2,152.80 | $2,302.79 | Trades business, card-paying clients |
| Plus, 10 ร $500 bank transfers a month | $149.99 (17 Sep 2026) | 120 ร $5.30 = $636.00 | $785.99 | Same business, clients paying by ACH |
| Premium, 25 ร $800 card payments a month | $219.99 (17 Sep 2026) | 300 ร $28.41 = $8,523.00 | $8,742.99 | Busy contractor, card-paying clients |
| Premium, 25 ร $800 bank transfers a month | $219.99 (17 Sep 2026) | 300 ร $8.30 = $2,490.00 | $2,709.99 | Same contractor, clients paying by ACH |
Instant payouts add 1.5% per payout on top, if you use them. Invoice Simple now collects tax on subscriptions depending on your region, per its help center article dated 2 September 2025. Tax is left out of the table because the rate depends on where you are.
๐ Why It Works This Way: The subscription is a fixed yearly amount. The processing fee grows with every dollar a client pays by card. Above a small volume, the payment method sets your cost more than the plan does.
To run your own numbers, estimate your yearly cost, or check every Invoice Simple payment fee in one place.
Passing fees to customers, and the limits on that
Invoice Simple offers two ways to pass fees on, per its help center retrieved 17 September 2026:
- Online payment fee: added only when the client pays online.
- Markup: spread across every invoice line, whether or not the client pays online.
Either setting applies only to future invoices.
โ ๏ธ This Costs You: Invoice Simple’s help article says that with Add Fees switched on, bank-transfer payments through Stripe are charged 3.49% of the total rather than the standard ACH rate. At that rate, a $500 bank transfer carries a fee sized like a card fee. Check the setting before you enable it for clients who pay by ACH.
Invoice Simple’s own payments fee schedule says charging customers a card fee is allowed in some US states and not others. Whether it is allowed for your business is a question for your state’s rules or a qualified adviser, not this page.
Using it day to day on web and Android
This section records what Invoice Simple documents about everyday use on the web and Android. None of it has been timed or tried by us.
Creating and sending an invoice
The Google Play listing, retrieved 17 September 2026, says invoices and estimates can be sent by email, text or WhatsApp, or downloaded as a PDF. It also says the app notifies you when an invoice is opened, paid or overdue. The Essentials page, retrieved the same day, says estimates convert into invoices.
Web and Android sync
Invoice Simple’s help center says switching subscriptions between platforms does not affect your stored data. The Android app was last updated 4 September 2026, and the listing’s release note announces a new Invoice Simple experience focused on performance and stability. Neither sync speed nor offline use is documented.
Getting paid through Invoice Simple Payments
Funds generally arrive within two business days, per Invoice Simple’s Price Lock FAQ retrieved 17 September 2026. Faster payouts are available through Stripe for the fee shown in the true-cost section. Printed invoices can carry a QR code for online payment.
๐งพ Not Tested: We did not create, send or get paid on an invoice for this version of the page. How long invoicing takes, how quickly edits reach your phone from the web, and whether the Android app works offline are unmeasured. Everything above comes from Invoice Simple’s published pages, captured 17 September 2026.
Where Invoice Simple falls short
Four problems are documented on Invoice Simple’s own pages or its Google Play listing as of 17 September 2026.
Plan pages that contradict each other
Invoice Simple’s own pages do not agree on which plan includes autofill, as shown in the plan section above. A buyer choosing between Essentials and Plus on that feature cannot get a consistent answer from the vendor.
The trial is described inconsistently too. The help center offers it to all users, while the pricing page ties it to mobile.
โ Do This: If autofill decides your plan, ask Invoice Simple support in writing which plan includes it before you pay. Keep the reply.
Caps that block you mid-job
Essentials and Plus stop at a fixed number of invoices each month. Invoice Simple does not publish what the app shows at the cap, whether drafts count, or when the count resets. You find out at the moment a client is waiting for an invoice.
โ ๏ธ This Costs You: Invoice Simple’s terms, retrieved 17 September 2026, rule out refunds for upgrades and downgrades. An upgrade bought to get through one busy month is not refunded if you step back down.
What the app shares, per its Play data-safety label
The data-safety label on Google Play, retrieved 17 September 2026, says the app may share personal info, financial info and three other data types with third parties. It also says the app may collect location, personal info and seven other data types. Data is encrypted in transit, and users can request deletion.
The developer supplies this label. Your invoices hold your clients’ names, addresses and payment details, so read Invoice Simple’s privacy policy before importing a client list.
What reviewers keep reporting
Google Play reviews posted in July and August 2026 complain of repeated price rises and tighter invoice limits. One August 2026 review says the app stopped letting the reviewer create an invoice, and Invoice Simple’s reply directed them to support. These are users’ reports, not findings we have reproduced.
Free trial, refunds and cancelling by billing channel
Invoice Simple’s terms make subscription fees non-refundable, and where you bought the subscription decides who handles cancelling and refund requests, per its help center retrieved 17 September 2026.
What the 14-day trial includes
Invoice Simple’s help center, in an article dated 4 March 2025, describes a 14-day trial with Premium features: unlimited invoices and estimates, premium templates, client signatures on estimates, deposits and business summary reports. The pricing page describes the 14-day Premium trial as a mobile trial.
We could not confirm which description applies. Neither page states whether a card is required, or whether the trial becomes a paid plan on its own.
โ Do This: Pick a plan, or decide to leave, before day 14. Invoice Simple’s pages do not say what happens when the trial ends.
Refunds: web vs Google Play vs App Store
| Where you subscribed | How to cancel | Where to request a refund |
|---|---|---|
| Directly with Invoice Simple | Log in to the web app, open Settings, select Cancel Subscription | Email support@invoicesimple.com with “Cancellation Request” in the subject, your account email and a receipt screenshot |
| Google Play | Cancel in your Google Play subscriptions | Google Play |
| Apple App Store | Handled by Apple | Apple |
Sources: Invoice Simple’s cancellation steps and its refund policy, both retrieved 17 September 2026.
The refund policy rules out refunds or credits for partial use, for plan changes, and for unused months on an active account. You remain responsible for renewal fees until the account or terms are terminated.
โ ๏ธ This Costs You: Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not return the rest of your current term. An annual subscriber who cancels in month two has paid for ten months they won’t use, and the terms say no refund applies.
For platform-specific steps, see how to cancel on Android or the web, step by step.
What happens to your invoices after you cancel
โ Do This: Export your invoice summary before you change anything. Cancelling keeps your data, but permanently deleting your account is a separate step with its own help article โ and a deleted account cannot be exported.
Invoice history, estimates and client information stay stored after you cancel, and you can reach them with your login. That is per Invoice Simple’s data-after-cancelling article, retrieved 17 September 2026.
The same article says invoice summaries export as CSV, PDF or XLSX. Before you leave, export your invoices.
Invoice Simple vs Invoice2go on cost
Invoice2go caps invoices per year โ 30 on Starter and 100 on Professional, per its pricing page retrieved 17 September 2026 โ while Invoice Simple caps them per month. A business that sends most invoices in a few busy months can hit Invoice Simple’s monthly cap while staying inside Invoice2go’s yearly allowance.
Monthly caps vs yearly caps
| Rule | Invoice Simple | Invoice2go (17 Sep 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Cap period | Per month | Per year |
| Lowest plan | See Invoice Simple’s price table above | 30 invoices a year |
| Middle plan | See Invoice Simple’s price table above | 100 invoices a year |
| Top plan | Unlimited | Unlimited |
๐ Why It Works This Way: A yearly allowance absorbs a seasonal peak; a monthly cap tests every month on its own. Invoice Simple’s pages don’t say whether unused monthly invoices carry over, so assume they don’t until the vendor says otherwise.
Card fees and refund terms side by side
| Rule | Invoice Simple | Invoice2go (17 Sep 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Card payment fee | One rate on every plan (see true-cost section) | 3.5% Starter, 3.0% Professional, 2.9% Premium |
| Bank transfer (ACH) | Per-payment fee (see true-cost section) | Free on all plans |
| Refund | Non-refundable under its terms | Full refund if cancelled within 30 days |
| Free trial | Yes (see trial section) | 30 days; card details required |
Invoice2go’s pricing page describes plans as starting at $5.99 a month, but it did not display per-plan prices when retrieved on 17 September 2026. It also doesn’t show whether a fixed fee is added to its card percentages. Third-party listings disagree on its prices, so no other Invoice2go price appears here.
For features beyond cost, see the full Invoice Simple vs Invoice2go comparison.
Who should not buy Invoice Simple
Two kinds of buyer pay more for Invoice Simple than they need to, or take on a risk they can avoid.
Card-heavy businesses on Plus
If most clients pay by card, work out your yearly fees before comparing plan prices. Use these figures:
- Your yearly card-paid revenue.
- Your number of card payments a year.
- The card rate and per-payment fee in the true-cost section.
The formula: yearly card fees = (card-paid revenue ร card percentage) + (number of card payments ร fixed fee). If that total is many times the subscription โ the Plus card row in the true-cost table shows how quickly it gets there โ the plan price is not your real decision. Either move clients to bank transfer, or compare processors before you subscribe.
Seasonal invoicers who spike past monthly caps
Count your busiest month, not your average. Twelve invoices in March and two in July average seven a month, but March still breaks any cap set below twelve.
If your busiest month exceeds your plan’s cap in the price table, you’ll either pay for Premium all year or look at a product with a yearly allowance. You also can’t recover the cost of an upgrade you only needed briefly, because the terms exclude refunds for plan changes.

Our verdict
Pay for Invoice Simple only if you send a steady, small number of invoices and most clients pay by bank transfer or offline. If card payments bring in most of your income, price the processing fees first, because they will set your cost more than any plan will
