Did Xero get worse? Four markets repriced in 13 weeks

Table of Contents
Xero did not get worse in one market โ it repriced in four. Prices rose in Australia on 1 July 2026 and the UK on 1 September 2026, and rise in New Zealand and the United States on 1 October 2026. Xero’s multi-organisation discount is being withdrawn alongside them, per its own notices retrieved 9 September 2026.
What Xero says about the increases
Xero gives the same reason in every notice still public, and close to the same sentence.

The reason Xero gives
Its pricing update notices for the United States and New Zealand, both retrieved 9 September 2026, cite continued investment in the product and a year of new capabilities. The wording is near-identical on the two pages.
Why your market changes the answer
The reason travels. The amount does not. Each notice covers one country, in one currency, with its own effective date โ and none of them mentions the other three.
What the four price notices say
| Market | Increase takes effect | Multi-organisation discount | Figures published as |
|---|---|---|---|
| Australia | 1 July 2026 | Withdrawal reported, not first-party checkable (see below) | New price only, verified 9 Sept 2026 |
| United Kingdom | 1 September 2026 | No longer applied from that date | New price only, verified 9 Sept 2026 |
| New Zealand | 1 October 2026 | Phasing out from that date, verified 9 Sept 2026 | Old and new, both published |
| United States | 1 October 2026 | Phasing out from that date, verified 9 Sept 2026 | Old and new, both published |
๐๏ธ Pricing verified 9 September 2026. Software pricing changes frequently โ confirm on the vendor’s site before purchasing.

The two markets we have not published before
Australia’s list price reads Grow A$78, Comprehensive A$107 and Ultimate 10 A$143 a month including GST, on Xero’s Australian pricing page retrieved 9 September 2026. Ignite sits behind a separate tab there and is not included.
Xero’s New Zealand notice, retrieved the same day, still shows both sides: Ignite NZ$35 to NZ$37, Grow NZ$83 to NZ$89, Comprehensive NZ$110 to NZ$117 and Ultimate NZ$125 to NZ$135, all excluding GST.
Where the other two markets live
UK figures sit on Xero’s UK plan pages and in full in our Xero price increase in the UK article. The US figures are on Xero’s US update notice and in what the US increase changes on your next bill.
What changed that isn’t a price
Three things moved alongside the figures, and only one of them is a number.

The plan names most guides still use are gone
Starter, Standard and Premium stopped being sold. Xero’s UK pricing page, retrieved 9 September 2026, states the replacement plans became available on 12 September 2024 and the old ones are no longer sold.
Guides published this year still quote them. A plan name that no longer exists is a reliable sign of a page nobody has re-checked. Which tier caps what is covered in where each Xero plan blocks you.
One add-on charge is moving
๐ต Verified: On New Zealand Ultimate plans, payroll for each employee beyond ten rises from NZ$1 to NZ$2 per month excluding GST from 1 October 2026 โ Xero’s New Zealand pricing update, retrieved 9 September 2026.
That is the only add-on charge any still-public notice changes. Everything else in the four notices is base subscription.
The discount going at the same time
Xero does not publish what the multi-organisation discount is worth, so nobody can size that half of the increase โ the US article covers that in full.
โ ๏ธ This Costs You: Hold more than one organisation and two changes land together on the same date โ the plan rise, and a discount withdrawn on every organisation you hold. Only one of them appears in any published figure.
Why two of these notices can no longer be checked
Xero takes the notice down once the change lands, which is the reason this page exists.
What retrieval showed
Xero’s UK and Australian pricing-update pages both redirect to the live plan pages as of 9 September 2026. The New Zealand and US notices โ whose increases have not yet taken effect โ still show old and new side by side.
What that costs you
The earlier figures for the UK and Australia are not first-party checkable today, so we have not published them. The Australian discount withdrawal sits in the same position: reported by Australian practices, not verifiable on Xero’s own site now. We would rather leave a hole than fill it from a source that cannot be checked.
๐ Why It Works This Way: A price-change notice is a temporary marketing page, not a record. Once the new price is the only price, the page has no job and the comparison disappears with it. Anyone documenting the change afterwards is working from copies.
Whether the product itself got worse
Price is one half of the question, and we cannot answer the other half.
What we have not established
We hold no paid Xero subscription, so nothing here describes using the software. We have not established an incident record from Xero’s own status reporting, and we will not source a reliability verdict to complaint threads โ which is where most answers to this question come from.
What we can point to
Customers are drawing the connection themselves. A post on Xero’s own product ideas forum, dated May 2026, ties the price rise to outages and portal glitches. That records a complaint. It does not establish an outage, and we are not presenting it as one.
๐งพ Not Tested: Everything above comes from four public Xero pricing pages retrieved 9 September 2026. We have opened no billing screen, no invoice and no interface, and there is no assessment of how Xero performs day to day on this page.
What to do before your next renewal
Two checks answer this for your own account better than any figure here.

The two checks
Confirm which plan you are on, in the Subscription area of your account. Then set your last invoice beside your next one. For multi-organisation accounts that comparison is the only accurate number available.
Who should look again
Anyone holding several organisations, and anyone whose add-on charges now approach their base plan. Whether a cheaper tier still meets your filing obligations is a question for your accountant, not for a price table.
What would change this verdict
A market where Xero holds price, or a published figure for the discount it is withdrawing. Neither exists as of 9 September 2026.
โ Do This: If your answer is to leave, read the one month’s notice you still pay for before you cancel anything. The exit has a cost and a sequence.

What the record shows, and when we check again
Four Xero markets repriced within 13 weeks, each with the multi-organisation discount withdrawn alongside. Two of those four notices have already been taken down, which is why the earlier figures are missing here rather than guessed at. Whether the software itself declined is a question we cannot answer without an account.
